Finding your wedding look and sticking to it can be a bit intimidating. One thing that Ashley learned was to hold off on the vision until choosing the venue. If you are stuck on a vision, but the location you fall in love with just doesn’t fit, it won’t work no matter how big your decor budget is.
Once your venue is booked, start pinning! Before any event, we start with a Pinterest board and pin ideas between the both of us. Pinterest has a fun feature where you can invite guests to pin to a board you have created. For weddings, including your bridesmaids and family is a great way to get more ideas as well as share the experience with your loved ones. Here is a snap of some of the ideas we gathered for Ashley’s wedding. When you look at a glance, it really captures Ashley’s vision of an “Organic Glam” love story. We didn’t use every element you see here but we were still able to capture it in our own way.
Once we had the vision locked down, we started gathering decor to turn her vision into a reality. Budget plays a huge factor in creating the wedding of your dreams so we always recommend using all your resources first. What can you get for free? What can you borrow? What can you DIY? Gather a list of all these items so you can spend every dollar wisely. Also, please keep in mind that DIY isn’t always cheaper! We knew we wanted to keep DIY to a minimum because between the the time and money spent on supplies you can really lose track of your budget. After bargain hunting, borrowing and DIYing, we laid out everything we collected to make sure the vision was on the right track. At this point you will feel more relaxed and excited that everything is coming together visually.
We highly recommend making a diagram of your venue for the decoration process. By addressing the layout, you will not only know where your reception and ceremony will be but you will also be able to find the correct placement for your decor. Here is our snazzy diagram created by the groom!
Using the layout to reference we did mock set ups for each area, pre-ceremony, favor table, bar, etc. Play with your decorations and see what works. Packing for the venue will be so much easier now that everything is divided by sections. We packed up each section in their own box and labeled them accordingly. Having photographs of the set up makes decorating the day of a breeze for anyone helping and relieves the worry in your mind.
Even with so many details covered things may still not go as planned the day of your wedding but don’t panic! Even we had some hiccups in our planning but we had so much trust and confidence in Ashley’s lovely day-of coordinator, Amber Traini, to address them. You’ve done as much as you could to this point and it’s time to live in the moment and soak up your big day! Here are some of the final details of the Ruelas wedding!
